Home from the Honeymoon

So we got back to Arizona and it was raining horribly, horribly bad. Now we parked the car in long term parking and so we had to take the little roadrunner bus to the roadrunner long term parking area to where our car was at. So, its raining horribly bad and we wait for the bus forever and then run out to the bus and get wet, wet, wet. The bus takes us out to the long term area but right when we finally approached the gate to enter the little arm of the gate wouldn't go up and so we sat for awhile when Stephen decided he would just go and run to get the car. So Here is a picture of him after being out in the rain so much.
Stephen just smiling away, wet or not, he's just happy to be married to ME!!! :)

Once we got to our condo we saw ants along an ant trail. So we cleaned up ants and Stephen caulked the wall where we saw the ants coming from. Whew, that was not really the welcome from the honeymoon we thought we were going to be having. Once we were back though we started getting settled into the condo and Stephen went through all of his books that he had and I went through mine. We started to make piles of things to get rid of and clear out and settle in. In the mean while we also went and ended up getting as I call them 'our kids.' We got 9 plants. I told him that if I can take care of and nurture some plants than I could take care of a child right??? :) Here are our kids. I have named each one. I wish I knew how to put the names under each picture. I'll try and see, so here it goes.

She is the only one I have not offically named, but I continue to call her the prayer because in the day she will flatten her leaves and at night she lifts her leaves up as if she is praying.

This is Leafinigus

This is Staulky

This is Bendifurous

This is Stretch

This is Curliquis

This is Ferni's twin, Fernigus

This is Ferni, he has a twin

This is Flora, we call her Flo for short.

Now since I have not been able to work for the past month and half I have had some time on my hands and so its been helpful to have 'my kids' here to keep me company and help keep the house feeling calm and peacful. They make it very nature feeling like, which is very comforting. I have grown attached to them and I talk to them, and they are all doing very good. I am excited to see them all grow bigger. We have the twins (the ferns) and the triplets (philodendrens) which are bendifirus, leafinigus, and staulky. Each of the plants are unique in their own way even though we do have the twins and the triplets. I think because I have attached myself to the kids I would be really sad if they were to die suddenly. So I am taking care of them as best I can. We read about them online and make sure that we are watering them correctly and giving them the correct amount of light. By me making sure that I am giving 'my kids' the kind of care and attention to make sure that they are getting the correct amount of water or light or what they need in order to survive the best in its environment, isn't that far off from what parenting is like, eh moms??? Or more like, if I can't even take care of these plants how would I ever be able to do the much more complicated job of raising a child.

Well, maybe a little bit. The only problem is kids cry & eat & sleep & wear diapers for a while & grow up...& none of that is on your time table, but on ther own time table. Kids are great, don't get me wrong, but they are a bit more complicated than a plant.

I don't know....I have killed more plants than I can count, but I'm good at keeping kids alive. I think I over think the whole plant thing, but maybe we get a little help from above for the kids!

Yes, I know that a child is much more complicated than a plant. The plants aren't talking back. As mom said, they cry, eat, sleep, wear diapers, grow up. I hope that everyone knows I don't really think that if I am going to be able to keep a plant alive I'll be able to raise a child. There's a lot more that will go into raising a child. For me, if I can't even keep a plant alive how in the world would I be able to do something much, much more complicated like raise a child. So, I don't want any of the moms or future moms to think that I am down playing parenting at all. It is a much, much more complicated job.

Lol, Jen! Hee hee...
Amanda, I think it is so cool that you are able to keep plants alive. I'm with Ang - it is HARD to keep a plant alive! I think that's cute that you call them "the kids". You must have a green thumb. Plants really do make a house a home, don't they?

Good job Manda! I don't touch them...James keeps them alive for us because all I seem to do is look at them and they die. Could this be a sign? Jen, I think you are hilarious! That was a good one. Have fun with the plants Manda...they look good!

Hey! Thanks for posting on my blog so much! I love your commments! I don't remember going around KC with Sister J at end of your mission...I think I had to work that day. Oh, I used colby jack cheese from the deli, but my grandpa uses any cheese we have in the house, chedder, american slices, any type, for his PB and cheese sandwich. I admit, it sounds really weird. Anyway, take care! Hope those plants are doing well too!
